I had a great time recently in Tokyo with the Ken Peplowski Big Band..what a joy the Japanese audiences are to play to. A wonderful tour, and Ken is perhaps the best jazz clarinettist alive in the mainstream idiom. It was a joy every night to hear him.

Some great events coming up..this week I'll be at DIZZY's in LINCOLN CENTRE with the Wycliffe Gordon band..he's just released a new CD called Hello Pops- a tip of the hat to the great Louis Armstrong. It is such a beautiful venue..come by and check it out.

And this sunday my Funktet will be coming out of semi-retirement to play the brunch at Jules Bistro in Manhattan..come have a bloody mary and shake your booty.

And on November the 10th I'll be heading to london to perform at The Barbican Theatre , followed by some recording at ABBEY ROAD (!!!!) studios. I will be in some serious company- Reginald Veal, Herlin Riley, Wes Anderson, Wycliffe Gordon et al; when we perform and record music for the silent film LOUIS (scored by Wycliffe Gordon and Wynton Marsalis).
